Wally the Emotional Support Alligator is Missing
You probably remember Wally the Emotional Support Alligator from his time posing with Gritty at the Flyers game back in October.
That, or when he was denied entrance into the Phillies game. Or maybe a throwback to his time in the spray-grounds in Love Park.
Whichever Wally the Emotional Support Alligator story rings a bell, if you’re even somewhat Philly local, you’ve likely heard of Wally the Emotional Support Alligator. He’s become a bit of a Philly legend, much like Philly Jesus or the guy that ate all those rotisserie chickens. You can imagine our panic to learn that Wally is currently missing.
Wally the Emotional Support Alligator Is Missing
His owner Joie Henney was on vacation in Georgia back on April 21st when Wally went missing from his enclosure. He hasn’t seen Wally since, and the search is on to find him. Unfortunately, the chances of finding him are very slim.
According to Wallygator’s official Facebook Page, it is suspected that Wally was taken and dropped in someone’s yard as a prank. Once Wally was found, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources was called, and the agency likely picked up Wally and released him into a nearby swamp along with 20 other alligators. The sad news is, according to this post, the swamp is very large and the odds are not great for any hope of finding Wally. But they’re not giving up!
How To Help
A GoFundMe has been set up to help Wally’s owner with “travel costs, advising costs and possible legal and veterinary costs.” As of 6pm Tuesday, April 30th $5,228 has been raised from 214 donations toward the fundraiser’s $30,000 goal. Donate HERE if you’re so inclined, and keep an eye on Wallygator’s Facebook page for the latest updates.

Hoping for a happy ending for Wally and his owner. I would love to report back that he’s been found and just went on an epic adventure with fellow gator friends. We’ll certainly keep an eye on this story and update as we learn more.
