Saturday's Tails and Trails 5K with Main Line Rescue and the PSPCA was a huge success. Lots of people came out to run a 5K or walk a 2K (with or without their dogs), and it was a gorgeous morning for the event. Most of all, the event acted as a fundraiser for two incredible partner organizations and the animals they care for.

There were food trucks and vendors, raffles and prizes, a beer garden, and the best part... LOTS of cute dogs. The Tails and Trails run/walk is a unique 5K event in that it allows for people to run with their dogs, and awards prizes for winning pairs too. The top male and female runner in each age bracket is awarded a prize, but also top female and male runner WITH their dog companion. It's super fun. If you don't bring a dog with you though, there are many adoptable dogs walking through the crowd enjoying the event with volunteers from the rescue organization. They were all so sweet and loving, and each and every one of them was thrilled to enjoy all so many extra pets, belly rubs and new smells.

A Best Friend For Everyone

Hopefully one of these beauties will become your next best friend and family member! While we're listing only 5 adoptable dogs from the Tails and Trails 5K, in reality there are new dogs and cats arriving at the rescue every day. If you have room in your home (and your heart) for a new family member, please stop by and find your next best friend. Find photos and descriptions of the adoptable DOGS and CATS at Main Line Rescue HERE.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the event next June, as this happens annually and it's an absolute blast for an incredible cause.

5 Adoptable Dogs From the Tails and Trails 5K Event this Year

Scarlett was probably my favorite pup that I met on Saturday. Dogs sort of just pick YOU sometimes, and I was smitten right away.

Scarlett is such a good girl. She was incredibly sweet at the Tails and Trails event and I will be so happy to hear when she's adopted by a loving family. Scarlett is a 4 year, 1 month-old female American Pit Bull Terrier/Mix who weighs 45 pounds. She came to the rescue from a cruelty/neglect situation, along with her brother Bubba (who is also up for adoption). Both super sweet. Find out more on the Main Line Rescue website, and please go visit Scarlett (and Bubba) today!

Sunny is a big guy with an even bigger heart.

Sunny is a big guy with an even bigger heart. He happily walked around the PSPCA Tails and Trails event meeting everyone, and enjoying the smells. His tongue out on the warm morning made him look like he was smiling, and he was a joy to be around. Super cute and friendly and one of the 6 adoptable dogs at the tails and trails 5K event this year. Find Sunny on the Main Line Rescue website, and many other adoptable dogs and cats too.

Starfish. No idea where the name came from.

Starfish.jpegKristen Herrmann for BBGI

Starfish is a cutie pie with reddish color fur and long floppy ears. A 6 year-old female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who weighs 26 pounds. Starfish was rescued from a commercial breeding facility and although she has some significant medical issues, you would never know either of those things from her temperament or personality. She is a happy, friendly dog who enjoys people and other dogs. She has a significant heart murmur and some other heart related issues (the adoptions team and veterinarian will give you all the details). Starfish is not able to go under anesthesia, so cannot have an appropriate dental or spay procedure. She may have some health challenges, but she deserves a safe, loving forever home. If you can provide the ongoing medical care she requires and have a soft spot for the underdog please go meet this adorable girl!

Clyde is a 2 years old male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Miniature Poodle who weighs 15 pounds.

Clyde is a 2 year-old sweety. A male Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Miniature Poodle who weighs 15 pounds. He is quite shy/timid and is currently learning to walk on a leash, starting to trust people a little and starting to discover this big scary world. He is already making some good progress, but he will need a patient, loving home, preferably with a confident dog who can show Clyde how to "dog". He will likely be overwhelmed by small children due to sudden movements and sounds, but please bring all family members (who live in the home) and any resident dogs to the meet. Clyde does have a 3 of 6 heart murmur and will need regular vet visits to monitor this as he ages.

This little lady is Lilly. She's got sparkling icy blue eyes, and to be honest, this photo does her no justice. She's a beauty and such a sweet dog.

This little lady is Lilly. She's got sparkling icy blue eyes, and to be honest, this photo does her no justice. She's a beauty and such a sweet dog. Lilly is a 6 years, 2 months old female Siberian Husky who weighs 49 pounds. Lilly is looking for a calm home with people who have lots of patience and time to let her build up her confidence and progress at her own pace. She would be best in a home with experienced dog owners and older children (if any.) The quick movements of little ones might make her anxious! Please fill out an application today.

Viper is someone's family member. NOT available for adoption, but felt his strong abs (8-pack?) deserved to be mentioned.

Viper.jpegKristen Herrmann for BBGI

Yes, this is a post of 6 Adoptable Dogs from the Tails and Trails 5K. This dog here is named Viper. Viper is not available for adoption. He is a loved member of someone's family already. However, we included Viper in this post because we felt his strong abs (8-pack?) deserved some recognition. Look at that cutie little buff guy! He was out to support other animals, enjoy the walk/run and all of the wonderful smells of the event.
