There’s a new children’s book out today, and written and illustrated by two local moms. Author Susanne Munn (Cherry Hill, NJ) and Illustrator Amy Towers (Haddonfield, NJ) wrote a book with an important lesson about self-acceptance. It’s called The Great Shape Debate, and it’s available today on Amazon for just $10.99.

Aimed for kids 3-8 years old and 40 pages long, gift this one at your next baby shower and support two local moms in the process.

The Great Shape Debate: Description

“It all comes full circle after a debate breaks out in a town full of shapes. One by one, they give their opinion on which shape they'd rather be and why. That is, until one of them offers up a heartfelt lesson in self-love, exposing the beauty behind being different. But will the others shape up?

The Great Shape Debate is a timeless tale that has a message for "kids" of all ages: IT'S OK TO BE YOU!

Through bold, graphic illustrations and rhyming prose, it offers a warm hug of acceptance to anyone who has ever questioned their self-worth or value—especially in this age of digital media.”

Author: Susanne Munn

Susanne Munn of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, is a writer who has always had a soft spot for children, creativity, and kindness. She has overcome numerous struggles in her own life and hopes that this timeless tale will inspire future generations in their quest for self-acceptance and peace.

Illustrator: Amy Towers

Amy Towers of Haddonfield, New Jersey, has the ability to see things from a different angle. She has made a career out of communicating ideas in unique and visually impactful ways. Through a simple, whimsical design aesthetic, Amy hopes to help others receive and process information in a way that truly resonates with them.

Being relatively new moms when they first met, Susanne told Amy about a poem that she had written for her neurodiverse son who was struggling to make friends and “fit in” with kids his own age. The more they discussed the topic, the more they realized that this is a universal story that has the potential to speak to just about anyone. Towers transformed the poem into a book using vibrant colors, shapes, and illustrations.
