Eurovision Watch Party Saturday with an ABBA Dance Party to Follow
There’s a perfect party being held at the German Society of Pennsylvania this weekend. A Eurovision watch party, followed by an ABBA-Inspired dance party. Need I say more?
America’s cool and all, but it’s frustrating to be left out of the fun of Eurovision. This year 37 countries will be competing in the song competition, hoping to win best song. We can watch it though, streaming on Peacock beginning May 7th. May 7th and 9th were the semi-finals, and the final is Saturday, May 11th. Watch and re-watch the semi-final performances HERE. Each day begins at 3pm our time, which is when the German Society watch party begins too. There’s a Eurovision App (Download for Android, Download for iOS), website, merch and lots more. You can also hear all of the 37 competing songs this year with a playlist on most streaming platforms.
The watch party is being held at the German Society of Pennsylvania. They’re located at 611 Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia (right near Yard’s Brewing). Founded in 1764, it’s the oldest German-culture organization in the United States. The big historic building is gorgeous too, with a beautiful ballroom and stage, incredible old library on the top floor, and authentic German Ratskeller in the basement. (Fun fact: My husband and I got married at the German Society. We said our vows in the library, cocktail hour in the Ratskeller, and the reception was in the ballroom.) Now, we’re returning for this super fun Eurovision / ABBA Dance Party this Saturday, May 11th. Can’t wait.

ABBA Dance Party
Eurovision famously launched ABBA to international stardom, so it’s only fitting to have an ABBA dance party too. Not only that, Eurovision this year is being held in Sweden, in Malmö. The dance party starts at 7pm after the Eurovision finale.

Whoever wins Eurovision, everyone at this German Society Eurovision watch party tomorrow wins too. The next best thing to being there live in Malmö this weekend is happening right in Philly on Spring Garden Street. Being there live in person is still a great bucket list item though. Maybe next year!

Shoes are always smart to invest in. If your shoes are cheap your body will pay for it. Avoid the achey back by buying a sleek, stylish, substantial pair of black booties like these. The heel is not too high, and the sole is thick – both great attributes for extended wear. My feet don’t like a pointed toe, so I go a ½ size up when buying this shape, and sometimes I stuff the toe with cotton to keep my feet from sliding forward into the point.

A nice tote bag goes well with whatever you are wearing, so it is important to invest in one that looks like it is quality. This tote is a great size as you can use it as a purse and its size allows room for any extras you may pick up along the way. Don’t be afraid to experiment with colors!
