Philly Roller Derby Juniors Open House – Roller Derby for Kids and Teens
Did you know that Philly Roller Derby Juniors are Nationwide Champions? Yup. Philly has a championship team right now. Who knew?!
The Philly Roller Derby Juniors All-Stars are undefeated for the 2022 season and won the gold medal at the JRDA Championships in Arizona at the end of July.
So how does your kid get involved? Glad you asked.
They’re hosting a new skater open house. A chance for kids to give it a try, and it’s coming up soon.
Philly Roller Derby Juniors Open House: Sunday, September 11th: 10:30-12pm.
The best part? No skating experience is necessary! The fantastic derby coaches will teach kids of every skill level everything they need to know about roller derby, the fastest growing sport in the world.
The Philly Roller Derby Juniors program is open gender for skaters ages 6 to 18.
It’s a safe and accepting environment full of learning, teamwork, and fun.
RSVP for the open house HERE. Learn more on the event Facebook Page HERE.
Then, if the open house goes well, and you’d like to enroll in the program, here’s some information on the fall session.
The upcoming Philly Roller Derby Juniors Fall Session features:
- Weekly practices broken up by level
- The return of the Brawlstars (B Team)
- A Halloween Scrimmage
- All-Star-led Clinic
- Tryouts for the Allstars, the 2022 JRDA Open Division National Champions! (Open to level 3 skaters registered in the Philly Juniors program)
- Home Team Games
- Quad skates (we have skates for rent for $50/session)
- Knee pads
- Elbow pads
- Wrist guards
- Helmet (skateboard style, not bike)
Think your kid is roller derby material? Bring them on out to the open house on September 11th. As someone who played roller derby for Philly Roller Derby (adults) from 2007-2019, I can’t recommend this sport, and this league enough. An absolute blast. A super fun sport, and an even better community. I may have hung up my skates (for now), but my Philly Roller Derby family will be family to me for the rest of my life.
Enjoy, and good luck!
