Late payment!
Did you receive a late payment notice from PECO yesterday (8-22-22)? No worries. It was sent in error.
The e-mail subject line said: You Can Reduce Your Past Due PECO Bill.
Enough to make you open the e-mail quick!
Then it read:
Dear Customer, Our records show that you have a past due balance with PECO. We wanted to let you know that you can always make a payment or apply for a payment arrangement online at peco.com/payment. If you need assistance paying your bill, please visit peco.com/help to explore resources that may be available to you. If you would like to discuss your account and payment options, you can also call PECO directly at 1-888-480-1533. Thank you for addressing your PECO bill. If your account is no longer past due, please disregard this email. Sincerely, PECO
Uh oh. Right?! Never fear. The e-mail was accidentally sent.
PECO sent a followup e-mail today.
Subject Line: Email Sent In Error
Dear Customer,
Yesterday, you may have received an email stating that your account was past due. This message was only intended for customers with a past due balance and may have been sent to you in error.
The issue has been resolved and we regret the inconvenience the message may have caused if your account is not past due. Based on our internal investigation, we know that no customer data was compromised.
We strive to provide you with a world-class customer experience and in this instance, we did not deliver. We sincerely apologize and are committed to improving our process so that this does not happen in the future.
To check your account balance and payment due date, visit PECO MyAccount.

They put a notice on the website and updated their phone system to let customers know the error.
Don’t take our word for it though. Better check your account HERE just in case.
