Maybe you saw the photos. But do you know Princess Diana’s connection to the Philadelphia Eagles?
It was great to see the Kelly Green of the Philadelphia Eagles make an appearance again. Sunday Night Football and Kelly Green proved to be a great combination as the Eagles beat the Miami Dolphins 21-13.
So many tried and true Eagles fans have been begging the Eagles’ front office to bring back the color they love so much. This year, the Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie gave in and Kelly Green jerseys made their way onto the field. Fans lined up for hours, as early as 3 a.m. to pick up their favorite color Eagles swag before it was gone. The color coming back almost seemed like it was too good to be true.
Christmas in Philly?
Alas, the night finally came when the players would don the Kelly Green jersey, and Philadelphia came ALIVE! It seems like Christmas since the media and socials are filled with Red for Red October as we cheer on the Phils, and the Kelly Green jerseys from last night’s Eagles game.
You might remember … many many years ago … when that same kelly green made its way across the pond to England and the world’s princess Princess Diana wore a custom Eagles jacket. where did she get it? Why did she wear it? So many questions and this video has all the answers.

A guy named Jack Edelstein was the Philadelphia Eagles statistician. He grew up with Princess Grace of Monaco. You might know that Grace Kelly is a Philadelphia native who became first a movie star and then gave it up to marry her love, Prince XXXX. Edelstein’s family had a house next to the Kelly’s down the shore, and Jack and Grace grew up friends. When Princess Grace was killed in a car accident, Edelstein went to the funeral and found himself chatting with Princess Diana. She knew nothing about American football but did love the colors Kelly Green and silver together. So, when Edelstein came back to Philly, he told his co-workers at the Eagles to make her a jacket and they sent it to her. The rest, as they say, is history.
