Pennsylvania is Going to Feel Like Summer – Here’s Where
It’s been a mild winter so far for much of Pennsylvania weather, and I’m not mad about it. I really dislike the cold winter months, so any season that we can get away with little snow and warmer temperatures makes me happy.
As it turns out, this week is going to get very, very warm in areas of Pennsylvania. We might even break a weather record for high temperatures. I’m so ready to bust out my bikini, but don’t get too comfy, because after our day of warmth, temperatures dip again. However, thankfully, we’re not going to get truly freezing temperatures in this forecast, so that’s good news. Here’s where and when to expect summer-like weather.
According to the National Weather Service, Thursday (Feb. 23) is our big day. Following some rain on Wednesday (Feb. 22), the wet weather will clear out and make way for some downright hot temperatures on Thursday. In Philadelphia, Thursday’s high will be around 73 degrees, according to the NWS, bringing it close to its record high of 75. We could even surpass that record high. Areas of South Jersey are projected to get into the mid-70s. Thursday night should be clear and warm, but a cold front moves in for Friday (Feb. 24), really cooling things down. On Friday, the high is projected to be 49 in Philadelphia.
In other areas of the state, also expect a similar trend. In Pittsburgh, Thursday’s high is projected to be 70. However, by Friday, the high is just 39. In Scranton, temperatures are on the colder side, with Thursday’s high at 59 and Friday’s high at 39. Looking at longer range projections, in Philadelphia, Saturday is our coldest day, with a high at just 38. How we go from near 75 to 38 in a few days is beyond me. From Sunday on, though, temperatures hover around 50.
