What is “Quizzo,” you ask? It’s actually a local thing. It was originally called “Quizo.” And it’s actually the name given to trivia night events in Philadelphia. Yes, Philly invented a unique name for trivia nights.
It all started when a Kensington native named Patrick Hines served as a bartender in Wildwood during the ‘90s. According to this article from Billy Penn, a customer mistook his bar’s trivia night for bingo. Hines’ friend responded, “No, this is Quiz-o!” Quizzo arrived in Philly soon after.
There are multiple Quizzo events almost every night of the week across the city. They all have different themes like Disney, Friends, boy bands, or basically whatever pop culture phenomena you can think of. People gather their friends and go to these bars to drink and test their knowledge of all kinds of useless information.
