Local Grounghog Celebration with Tinicum Tim
Groundhog Day comes early for Tinicum Tim. Today, actually.
UPDATE! Tinicum Tim did NOT see his shadow. Early spring! (We’ll wait for confirmation from Phil.) Check out some great photos from the Tinicum Tim prognostication below.
If you’re looking for something fun this morning, the John Heinz National Wildlife Center at Tinicum is having a Grounhog Day celebration.
Beginning at 10am, enjoy a fun walk for the entire family through the grounds. It’ll be informative too. Learn more about Groundhog Day history and nature. All of this before Tim’s big prognostication.
Following the walk, join your fellow Groundhog lovers for a celebration inside the Visitor Center from 10:30 to noon. There will be crafts to put together, music to dance to and snacks to munch on.
And it’s not just about groundhogs! From 11am to 12pm there will be animals from the Philadelphia Metro Wildlife Center to meet and learn about. Hang with the animals in the Heron room while you wait for Tinicum Tim to come out for his big moment.
Noon is when it all goes down. Tinicum Tim will come out of his burrow to join his party and celebrate with everyone. But will he see his shadow? We’ll just have to wait until noon to find out.
Sounds like an absolute blast, whether it means six more weeks of winter or not. Bring the entire family.
This morning, January 28th from 10am to 12pm.
