Brad Pitt Thanks Bradley Cooper For Helping Him Get Sober
Brad Pitt may have won Best Supporting Actor at the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala, but Bradley Cooper was the night’s real winner. During his acceptance speech, Pitt revealed it was Cooper who helped him get sober.
After joking that Cooper had “rushed over” to present him with the honor after putting his two-year-old daughter to bed, Pitt got serious for a second. “I got sober because of this guy,” Pitt told the crowd on Wednesday (Jan. 8) night. “And every day’s been happier ever since.” He then gave Cooper a thumbs-up and told him “I love you, and I thank you.”
Back in September, Pitt talked to The New York Times about his decision to quit drinking. “I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privileges,” the Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood star admitted.
Pitt later entered Alcoholics Anonymous, which he says allowed him to open up. “You had all these men sitting around being open and honest in a way I have never heard,” he told the Times. “It was this safe space where there was little judgment, and therefore little judgment of yourself.”
