Pennsylvania, New Jersey Steakhouses Ranked Among Top in America
Two Pennsylvania and New Jersey steakhouses have been named among the best in the country by food experts, which is very exciting stuff. There’s nothing like going to a really great steakhouse. The state has a lot of fantastic steakhouses, so it’s nice to see it being recognized for its meat-happy places. This steakhouse stood above the rest for a variety of reasons, but that certainly doesn’t dimmish the greatness of other local steakhouses.
Pennsylvania, New Jersey Steakhouses Named Top in America
The food experts at Taste of Home have put together at tally of the best steakhouses in America. Taste of Home is known for their recipes, which are sent in from people all over the country and world, but they also look at restaurants. “There’s nothing more satisfying than a grilling juicy steakâexcept when that cut is expertly prepared by one of the chefs at the best steakhouse in your state,” they note. As for their editorial process, Taste of Home states, “We know how to hunt down the latest trends, spotlight people who are making a difference and evaluate products and services that we know our readers will love” and are “always looking for great recipes to delight our family and friends and genius cooking tips that help us get the job done.”
Where did the concept of the steakhouse begin? According to Christner’s Prime Steak & Lobster, “The steakhouse began as the chophouse in the U.K. Chophouses started to appear in London in the 1690s as restaurants where individual portions of meat, or chops, were served to patrons. Originally, these chophouses catered only to men and their purpose was to serve a meal that was hot and quick to local workers.” While steakhouses originated in London, according to Christner’s, they are obviously popular in the States today.
So, which Pennsylvania and New Jersey steakhouses topped the tally? One is Butcher and Singer located at 1500 Walnut Street in Philadelphia. “Youâll feel like a celebrity entering Butcher and Singer in Philadelphia,” Taste of Home notes, adding that ,”this Center City hangout is inspired by 1940s Hollywood and serves up steaks, seafood and sips inspired by this golden era.” The other is Old Homestead located at 1 Borgata Way in Atlantic City, which Taste of Home states has the “the best steaks in the Garden State.” They suggest the the 34-ounce Gotham rib-eye but add that “the 20-ounce Prime Steakhouse Burger is pretty killer, too.”
