Tuesday Tea Parties in Old City
Tuesday tea parties? And why not?! Carpenter’s Hall is the home of the First Continental Congress back in 1774. Now, it’s the setting for 4 adorable tea parties held each Tuesday in February and hosted by Dolley Madison herself.
Carpenter’s Hall is a gorgeous historic building in Old City. Now, you can visit there AND join Dolley Todd Madison for tea. The former First Lady, wife of President James Madison, and one of the most prominent women in U.S. history turns on her famous hostess charm and welcomes families and history lovers each Tuesday in February from 3:30-5pm.
Enjoy various teas and a delightful assortment of sweets, and savory treats by The Hart of Catering. Highlights include fresh-based scones, six tea sandwiches such as smoked salmon on pumpernickel and a Lobster Pot Puff, and six mini desserts from eclairs to macarons. Vegetarian and gluten-free options will be available.
The Hall’s rarely-seen historic six-piece silver tea service will also be on display. If you’re a local, stop by any time! Carpenters’ Hall is free to the public and welcomes over 100,000 visitors annually. Now, we can drink fancy tea there on Tuesdays.

Below are some fun photos of my afternoon tea in Carpenter’s Hall, with my favorite date.

NBC-10’s Philly Live Host Aunyea Lachelle was there too! Love her. HERE‘s their NBC-10 segment from Philly Live! and Trudy has a cute soundbite in it too. <3
