PetSmart Celebrates New Program By Covering Your Bad Tattoo
PetSmart is celebrating the launch of its new loyalty program by covering your bad tattoo. Pet parents ready to show their loyalty to their companion can apply to replace a tattoo they regret with one of their pet, courtesy of PetSmart.
“Tattoos are the ultimate form of loyalty, but we know that sometimes the thing you thought you’d want to commemorate forever turns out to be…not so forever. So, we’re turning regrets into pets because we know you’ll never regret a reminder of your pets’ unconditional love,” said Bradley Breuer, vice president of loyalty and CRM at PetSmart.
Bad Tattoos
Many factors can contribute to a bad tattoo. This can be the execution, a bad concept, or unfortunately being a part of a reality TV show involving terrible tattoos, like A&E’s “Bad Ink” and MTV’s “How Far Is Too Far?“.
According to a national survey by Advanced Dermatology in Illinois, tattoo regret builds over time. Six months to a year after getting one, 15% of those asked said they regret getting body art. After two years, that number jumps to 51%. The survey also showed that 23% plan to get tattoos removed in the future and 59% plan to have one removed.
PetSmart’s Tattoo Redo
PetSmart is celebrating the launch of the new Treats Rewards loyalty program with the ultimate form of loyalty with tattoos. There are three ways all loyal pet parents can participate, now through April 30, 2024.
One way is to share a photo and story of a regretted tattoo and the pet that will inspire the cover-up tattoo at PetSmartTattooRedo.com. Winners of the tattoo cover-up contest will receive a consultation with Alium Tattoo Studio, plus the cost of travel to Los Angeles and accommodations for their session with one of Alium’s tattoo artists.
Another way to participate is to upload a photo of existing pet tattoos at PetSmartTattooRedo.com to be awarded VIPP status in the Treats Rewards program and to see pet tattoo pictures.
Lastly, download the PetSmart app for a tattoo-themed photo frame to use and celebrate their love and loyalty to their pets.

Ink Regrets: Avoiding The 6 Most Common Tattoo Mistakes
Some people get tattoos to show their personality and rock a unique style. Others see tattoos as a way to wear art on their bodies. Sometimes, it’s all about the fun and excitement of getting inked on a whim. Tattoos can also be a way to bond with friends or tell stories about our lives and experiences. Plus, they’re great conversation starters that help us connect with like-minded people.
When it comes to tattoos, finding the perfect artist and studio is crucial. This is because mistakes are quite common with tattoos. Whether it’s a misspelled word, a design that didn’t turn out as expected, or a tattoo artist’s error, these blunders can be disappointing and frustrating. Poorly executed tattoos or ones that don’t align with the client’s vision can leave a lasting mark of regret.
There was even a show that dived into the world of bad tattoos, A&E’s Bad Ink. The series featured tattoo artist and musician Dirk Vermin, who owns Pussykat Tattoo off the Las Vegas Strip, and his buddy and bandmate Rob Ruckus. Together, they embarked on a mission to track down people with regrettable tattoos and offered their expertise in transforming these less-than-stellar inkings through skillful cover-up work.
We all make mistakes. A mistake with a tattoo is a pretty big one, that keeps reminding you of your mistake. But here’s the silver lining. Those mistakes can teach us some valuable lessons. Before you get tatted up, do your homework and research reputable artists whose work matches your style. And when you find the right one, make sure to communicate openly and trust their expertise. Working together, you can create a masterpiece that you’ll proudly show off for years to come. Learn from others’ mishaps and make informed choices that will make your skin art something you’ll always cherish.
