St. Patty’s Day: Philadelphia Bar On Lis Of Top Irish Bars In America
St. Patrick’s Day is 12 days away. It falls on a weekend this year too. It’s a Sunday and you have to work the next day, but you are still off for some day drinking. There is nothing like a sunny St. Patrick’s Day at an Irish bar. Philadelphia has some really good spots for your St. Patty’s Day festivities. Of course, a sunny St. Patrick’s day leads to absolutely packed bars that depending on your age, you may not be looking for that. According to Travel Channel a Philadelphia bar makes it into their list of best Irish Bars in America.
There are a lot of really good bars throughout the city of Philadelphia. Both Irish and non-Irish, and if you’re in one drinking on St. Patrick’s Day then you’re probably doing just fine. If you are looking to step into an Irish bar in the city then you already know which one made the list of Travel Channel’s Best Irish Bars in America for St. Patty’s Day.
It’s McGillin’s Olde Ale House. The oldest continuously operating bar in the city is a mainstay when it comes to lists of great bars. It’s regularly packed on weekends and for big events, so you can assume the feeling of a sardine on Sunday, March 17th. It’s worth it if you’re looking for the right feel of a center city Philadelphia Irish bar on St. Patrick’s Day.
McGillan’s Gets most of the love from these national lists, but there are other really good spots in the city, like Moriarty’s. Another bar that’s been open for quite some time in Philly. A 70+ year old bar that gives you the feel of a pub overseas. I love the look of the actual bar. It’s got an old feel to it, and I’m not sure how to explain the design of the wood overhang at the actual bar. It just looks cool. Also, it’s got great wings. Yeah, not Irish, but who doesn’t want great wings?
Wherever you end up on St. Patrick’s Day enjoy yourself and be safe. Also hope for a warm, sunny day. It makes it so much better when it’s a great weekend day of celebrating outside with a few pints!
