Former NFL Quarterback Talking Smack About Jalen Hurts
Sure, Jalen Hurts got some heat last season, due to the Philadelphia Eagles’ very rough end of the season. But, he’s still done a lot of good for the Eagles franchise. As long as he’s healthy next season, I think he’ll be in stellar form to help this team with a comeback. That said, one former NFL quarterback doesn’t agree. In fact, he’s talking smack about Jalen Hurts.
First of all, let’s not forget that Hurts ended the 2022 almost landing MVP. He also led the Eagles to a Super Bowl, which we almost won. Almost isn’t good enough, but you get it. Also, this year, even though the Eagles fell from a 10-1 record and lost in a pretty embarrassing way in the playoffs, Hurts had impressive numbers.
But, not impressive enough for NFL analyst and former quarterback Chris Simms. “I respect a lot about Jalen Hurts, but I think Jalen Hurts is also like the most overrated player in football,” Simms told the PHNX Cardinals podcast. “That’s me, I know I’m wrong, I take a lot of crap about that comment.” Elsewhere, he added, “”He plays quarterback for a team that’s an all-star team, they have the best O-line in football, it’s not even close,” Simms continued. “I just think if you put some other quarterback in Philly, you put Kyler Murray in there, you’d say ‘Damn, Kyler’s amazing. Is he the MVP of football?'”
Geez. I really don’t think Hurts warrants that kind of criticism. But, it comes with the territory of being a franchise quarterback. I’m sure he’s not losing sleep over Simms’ comment. In fact, Simms isn’t even entirely behind his thoughts on Hurts. As I mentioned earlier, he even said, “That’s me, I know I’m wrong.” Let’s hope Simms is wrong and that Hurts has one of the best seasons ever this fall. Is it football season yet?
