Sting Will Continue to Perform as Long as He Can Do This
Sting knows he’s no spring chicken, but he’s undoubtedly taken great care of himself. Still, plenty of his peers and contemporaries have made moves to retire from performing. Fortunately, he has a pretty good way to determine how long he’ll continue to take to the stage.
The singer-songwriter was asked in a new interview with Music Week about Paul McCartney headlining Glastonbury last year at age 80 and whether he expects to still be performing at that age. The 71-year-old responded, “Well, it’s not that far away, why not? I’m not wearing a corset or anything. As long as I can get into my rock star pants, I’ll be fine.”
Sting donned his rock star pants recently to take part in the making of Rockstar, the upcoming rock album from country icon Dolly Parton. He’s one of over 30 guests appearing on the album, which features 21 classic rock covers and nine original songs. Sting is featured on a cover of The Police classic “Every Breath You Take” with Parton.
Rockstar comes out on November 17. It’s available for pre-save on streaming platforms here. Meanwhile, fans can pre-order physical copies of the album at DollyParton.com.
