Mick Jagger might have a unique way to show he’s not in the mood to interact with people. Just ask actor David Boreanaz.

The star of the series Seal Team appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden last night (October 26) when he was asked if he had any weird Hollywood party stories, which led Boreanaz to share this story.

At an award show afterparty years ago, Boreanaz recalled seeing Jagger in a booth with his entourage that night. He wanted to go over and have a brief chat with the Rolling Stones frontman, but as he was approaching Jagger’s booth, he started to growl at Boreanaz.

“I get about three feet and he just does this whole, ‘Rawwrrrrr!'” he said while acting out a cat’s clawing movement. “And I’m like, whoa. Mick Jagger was like growling at me. I had no idea what that means. I’m like, ‘Okay, look, I’m not coming toward your den, bud, I’ll just keep passing.'”

The lesson from this story? Approach Mick Jagger with caution, or if he does have the temperament of a cat, perhaps bring some treats.
