Joaquin Phoenix To Play The Joker In The Martin Scorsese Origin Film
Joaquin Phoenix will be taking on the role of The Joker in a new Warner Brother’s DC origin film.
The film will be directed by ‘The Hangover’ director Todd Phillips (that’s an interesting choice), and Martin Scorsese will be the executive producer.
Phoenix hasn’t ever been in a DC Universe movie, but he has still been acting, just in not-as-popular films. He did win Best Actor Award at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival for the film You Were Never Really Here’ according to NME.
It seems like an extremely odd choice, especially since Jared Leto is to star in his own ‘Suicide Squad’ spin-off, but no director, producer, or scriptwriter has confirmed their involvement as of yet.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, the movie will start shooting in September and will take place in the 80’s.

The Todd Phillips directed origin story will take place in the '80s and, "is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale."
