It Would be Silly For The 76ers Not To Call About LeBron James

I love the Philadelphia sports fans. They are knowledgeable & they are passionate. This is despite not winning nearly as much as they deserve. There are limits though, and some fans and media are testing those limits in my opinion. Personal feelings are clouding judgement, and we don’t win enough to take things this personally.   Lebron James has a player option with the Lakers and could become a free agent. The 76ers happen to be one of the only teams with 2 stars and cap space. It is a no-brainer to say that Daryl Morey should be reaching out to Klutch Sports (Lebron & Tyrese Maxey’s agency) to see if Lebron would have interest. Lebron James may have no interest in coming, but Morey must make the inquiry. He must. This week though, many fans have said that they don’t want that call to be made. Many have ruled out Paul George as well. Why? You loved Tobias Harris’ postseason production?  The 76ers Can Win With LeBron James (Photo by Tim Nwachukwu/Getty Images) The Sixers can try to win now with Embiid, and to win later with Maxey because he is just 23 years of age. If James, or Paul George, or any free agent come to the Sixers in 2024, the longest contract they would be allowed to sign is 4 years. In 4 years, Maxey will be just 27 years old. The Sixers could then go all in to win again with Maxey in his physical prime.   Despite his age, Lebron James averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.3 assists last season. He shot 54% from the field, and 41% from 3. In the postseason, Lebron averaged 27.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 8.8 assists. It is shocking mixed with disturbing that some wouldn’t want the Sixers to at least call about adding that production to a 76ers team featuring Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. He would be replacing Tobias Harris here! Come on. The jump would be franchise altering. Again, Lebron could say no, but the Sixers should make him do so.   He Is Probably Not Coming Here, But You Need To Try (Photo by Tim Nwachukwu/Getty Images) Again, I am not saying that Lebron is headed to Philadelphia, but he is the best possible free agent available. The Sixers should start with the top guys and go from there after they get turned down. We may look desperate, but we are desperate. We should put personal feelings aside and think about the 41-year championship drought. I don’t care if you hate Lebron James, he can help the Sixers end that drought. Let’s eliminate the silly talk, and put pressure on the Sixers and Lebron to get it done.   Listen To Or Watch 'The Best Show Ever?'
