Cher Reveals Wild Story About Taking John Lennon to the Playboy Mansion
Cher once took John Lennon to the Playboy Mansion in 1974, and the former Beatle was a mess and a half.
This story is featured in Cher’s upcoming two-part memoir and was reported by The Mirror. It all began when Cher met Lennon ad Harry Nilsson at a restaurant in Los Angeles. The singer then invited the duo to a party at the Playboy Mansion.
Unfortunately, things got off on the wrong foot for both Lennon and Nilsson, who showed up to the infamous mansion hammered. This wouldn’t be such a big deal if it was a normal Playboy rager, but this particular gathering was one of Hugh Hefner’s “movie nights,” which were typically calmer affairs.
After Lennon and Nilsson began chanting “Hef! Hef! Hef!” upon their arrival, Cher then guided them to the Grotto outside. She left them unattended to get a drink, but when she returned, both Lennon and Nilsson were naked in the Grotto.
Cher wrote, “I was trying not to laugh, but it was impossible not to as they threatened to wander around the mansion naked. It took me ages to get them back in their clothes. It was like herding drunks.”
Details on Cher’s Memoir
As previously reported, Cher: The Memoir, Part One is coming out on November 19 and is currently available for pre-order at HarperCollins.com. Per Harper Collins, “‘Cher: The Memoir, Part One’ follows her extraordinary beginnings through childhood to meeting and marrying Sonny Bono—and reveals the highly complicated relationship that made them world-famous, but eventually drove them apart.”
The publisher notes of Cher’s memoir, “It is a life too immense for only one book.” Frankly, it’s hard to argue against that sentiment.
While fans can mark the release of “Part One” on their calendars, “Part Two” doesn’t have a release date yet, but it is due out at some point in 2025.
Cher shared the cover artwork of “Part One” via social media, and fans are already eating it up. In the comment section on Instagram, Whoopi Goldberg wrote, “I can’t wait Cher, I’m excited & yes Please read the Audiobook it would be so great to hear your voice and feel your vibe in every word.”
Seriously, this needs to happen. We’re with Whoopi on this one: No one else can do the audiobook for the Cher memoir other than the legend herself. Also, can an audiobook win a Grammy for Album of the Year? If anyone can make it happen, it’s Cher!
