Steve Howe Talks New Career Anthology Release
Yes guitarist Steve Howe surveys his career today (August 11) with the release of Anthology 2: Groups And Collaborations, a three disc set that, as the title indicates, looks at his time in various bands over the years with more than a dozen previously unreleased tracks.
Notables such as Yes, Asia and the short-lived GTR with former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett are included, as well as less-known groups such as the Syndicats, The In Crowd, Tomorrow, Bodcast and more, plus collaborations with a variety of other artists including Billy Currie, Paul Sutin, Annie Haslam, Keith West, Max Bacon and one time Yes keyboardist Oliver Wakeman.
Howe previously released an anthology of his recordings as a solo artist but tells us he felt like collecting his group work was a valuable exercise:
“The first one, the solo retrospective, was great fun, and in a way I felt there was something, another story I needed to tell…I’ve been in 10 bands and we got through those bands, and that’s only counting Yes and Asia once. But obviously yes and Asia come many times in this anthology…but mostly we cover this amazing thing I’ve done where I’ve been in so many bands and they’re all highly individual as well, and I’m very pleased with that.”
Howe and Yes are in the midst of a Yestival tour in North America with Todd Rundgren and Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy, which runs through September 19.
