Kristen Smedley, President and Co-Founder, Curing Retinal Blindness Foundation joins Marilyn to share all the details of her non-profit organization, CRBF which funds research to lead to treatments to slow the progression of blindness and ultimately restore lost vision. Kristen’s two sons are blind due to mutation in the CRB1 gene causing a very rare and very severe retinal degenerative disease called Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis. To help raise awareness and funding, they’re hosting “Cocktails for the Cure,” this Friday, April 1st at Spring Mill Manor. Please listen – Kristen is delightful as is the story of her two sons, who don’t let their disease effect their quality of life…they are both award-winning braille readers and white cane users and nothing slows them down!
