Monopoly-Themed Hotel To Be Built In Atlantic City
Atlantic City is getting a new hotel, and well, it’s a game-changer (no pun intended). Monopoly and Atlantic City have always gone hand in hand. AC was a premiere destination for the rich and famous in the early 1900s, so it makes sense why the game chose it as its main spot. Monopoly was patented in 1935 by Parker Brothers, which means the game is 90 years old!
Atlantic City Is Expanding
Obviously the great part about the Jersey Shore, and especially Atlantic City, is the proximity to Philadelphia. The fact that you can make it from Center City Philly to the heart of Atlantic City in an hour (without traffic) is such a flex. Atlantic City, unfortunately, has gone through the ringer over the past few years, but they are fighting back and making it a go-to destination once again. In fact, there are 53 Hotels in Atlantic City as of January 2025, which is a 1.79% increase from 2023.
Obviously, we know and love the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, which has everything from luxury accommodations with a very high-end casino, fine dining, and spa services. The Tropicana, which was my Grammy’s favorite, is another popular spot and is more known for its nightclubs, theaters, and a variety of restaurants.
Then we have the Ocean Casino Resort, which used to be the Revel. Ocean offers a modern, stylish setting with a focus on wellness and relating since this hotel is oceanfront. I actually went to Ocean AC for my birthday two years ago, and it was fabulous. We did the beach and pool and felt pampered all day.
Real Life Monopoly Is On the Way
As of right now, the name of the hotel is the Top Hat. The ground floor will have 1,400 square feet of commercial space. The hotel will be located in Atlantic City’s Orange Loop corridor – a nightlife district near the beach and boardwalk with streets that correspond to Monopoly’s orange spaces.
