Philadelphia Eagles Partner With Local Rescues to Give Shelter Animals a Second Leash on Life
Amid their NFL playoff pursuits, the Philadelphia Eagles are partnering with three animal shelters in the Philadelphia region to help homeless pets find loving families to care for them.
Providence Animal Shelter in Media, Street Tails Animal Rescue in Philadelphia, and Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center in Blackwood, New Jersey, represent the participating shelters. The Eagles are covering the adoption fees for individuals who rescue an animal from one of these facilities through the end of the Birds’ 2024 season.
To raise awareness for this effort, the team created a fun pet adoption video featuring Reed Blankenship (safety), Thomas Booker (defensive tackle), A.J. Brown (wide receiver), Grant Calcaterra (tight end), Britain Covey (wide receiver), Cooper DeJean (defensive back), Cam Jurgens (center), Darian Kinnard (guard), Jordan Mailata (tackle), and C.J. Uzomah (tight end). All are shown petting and pampering several adoptable puppies.
“This is an amazing opportunity, and we are grateful to the Eagles,” said Providence Animal Center CEO Jo-Ann Zoll in a news release shared with NBC10 News Philadelphia. “There’s no doubt that partnering with them will bring visibility to these animals, which is key.”
The Eagles hope that fans and members of the public will “adopt their own Dawg Mentality and offer local shelter pets a second chance at a loving home.” Additionally, adoption fees will be waived for other animals besides dogs and puppies.
