It's that time of year when we have to start thinking about snow. I don't even want to think about it. I'm not a fan of snow. So, why do I live in a snowy area? Well, I have family and friends here, but if I could escape the snow for the rest of my life, I would gladly do that. If you're a fan of snow, however, make note that Pennsylvania has one of the snowiest cities in the U.S.

The study comes from Almanac.com, so it's obviously a source to take seriously when it comes to weather. If you're wondering why Alaska cities didn't make the cut, it's because Alamanac.com says this list only considers cities with at least 10,000 people, or else it would be all Alaskan towns. As for methodology, they add, "The list below is based on the average number of snowfall inches (including ice pellets and sleet) from the official National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration records since reporting began. The weather data comes from individual weather stations from all over the United States."

Before we get to our state, let's look at a few other very snowy cities in the U.S. Juneau, Alaska, is No. 3 on this list, clocking 93.6 inches of snowfall per year. No. 2 is Syracuse, New York, which totally makes sense. Syracuse gets 114.3 inches of snow per year on average. Moreover, Buffalo gets 92 inches and Rochester gets 89.3 inches. Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, is No. 1 with an average snowfall of 119.3 inches per year.

So, which Pennsylvania town is one of the snowiest cities in the U.S.? Erie, which is ranked No. 6. "Erie is a city on the south shore of Lake Erie; it’s the only port on the Great Lakes. This city is a very snowy place to live, with 80.9 inches on average. Its winters are moderately cold, with heavy lake-effect snow." Find the full list here.
