Stevie Wonder was trending on social media Tuesday (March 14). This happened after a photo of him without his signature shades went viral. The photo was shared by Daily Loud on Twitter, which prompted many responses from fans. Some seemed unaware that the singer is blind.

"The amount of people that didn’t know he was blind is kinda scary," a fan wrote.

In a 2008 interview with The Independent, Wonder revealed that being born prematurely caused his blindness."The blood vessels at the back of his eyes hadn't yet reached the front, and their aborted growth caused the retinas to detach," the publication wrote.

After some digging, one fan found the video of where the original photo came from which was his Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame speech in 1989. Some even joked about the theory that he can actually see. "Bro, this is so messed up, what if he sees this," one fan wrote. Back in 2017, in a video with TMZ, the music icon revealed that he "flew a plane" and played into the joke with the gossip site. See the moment below.

"I flew a plane once, well actually twice," he said. He added, "I actually landed the plane." TMZ asked Wonder if he would ever reveal if he's actually not blind.

"Are you gonna come out one day and just go, 'Surprise!'"

Wonder replied: "This year, I will reveal the truth." The artist has been the subject of conspiracy theories for years.
