Roadcase Royale, Nancy Wilson’s New Band, Releasing Debut LP September 22
With Heart on hiatus, Nancy Wilson is ready to rock with her new band, Roadcase Royale.
The group — which features three Heart members and Liv Warfield, who was part of Prince’s New Power Generation — will release its debut album, First Things First, on September 22 after putting out the singles “Get Loud” and “Not Giving Up” earlier this year.
Wilson met Warfield and her regular collaborator Ryan Waters when they opened for Heart in 2015, which led to a discussion about working together and subsequently to Roadcase Royale after Wilson and her sister, Ann, decided to put Heart on hold due to personal and musical reasons:
“That’s something we actually followed up on which most people never do. They say, ‘We should get together’ and it never happens, but in our case it was kind of exciting and we really wanted to put something forward…When we got together just to see how it would go…we just hit it off so fast and we all, as pretty experienced musicians, we knew how to just throw a song in the ring and work on it and make it happen.”
Roadcase Royale currently has a small batch of shows scheduled for the fall, starting September 10 in New York, with more expected to be announced soon.
