‘Yellow Submarine’ Comic Book Slated For Release in 2018
In the wake of all the hubbub over the 50th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, it appears the Beatles‘ Yellow Submarine will have its own golden anniversary celebration next year.
The Beatles’ Apple Corps is working with Titan Comics to create a special Yellow Submarine comic book, according to the Hollywood Reporter, helmed by Mad magazine editor Bill Morrison. Morrison has said he was actually commissioned to do the comic book back in 1999 and finished 25 pages before Apple pulled the plug.
The project is apparently back on, and Titan’s Chris Teather says that, “We’re thrilled to be publishing ‘The Beatles: Yellow Submarine’ for the 50th anniversary of this fantastic movie. We can’t wait for Beatles fans to experience this official adaptation.”
Titan has also produced a new line of a line of vinyl toy figures to commemorate Yellow Submarine, including likenesses of the band members and film characters such as the Blue Meanies, the Four-Headed Bulldog and the Apple Bonkers.
More Yellow Submarine anniversary plans are expected to be announced “in coming months.”
