Slash on Producing New Paramount+ Series ‘The Crow Girl’
Rock icon Slash is trying something new. Between playing guitar and packed concerts, the Guns N’ Roses star produces a new Paramount+ murder mystery series The Crow Girl, based on a Nordic-noir book and set in Bristol.
This TV project represents a move from performing to producing, following up his first try with the 2013 movie Nothing Left to Fear. However, it hasn’t necessarily been an easy transition for Slash.
In an interview with The Times, Slash said, “Having a name helps get a meeting, but that can overshadow the project. I need people to stop looking at me as the guitar player. It’s great for a foot in the door, but harder to get people to take you seriously.”
Through Slasher Films, his production company, he works on dark stories and thrillers. The Crow Girl is his biggest project yet, as he helps shape scripts and pick the cast.
Alongside producing, Slash also contributed to The Crow Girl by co-writing its music. While on tour, he found time to work on the score, often sitting on his hotel bed with a guitar and laptop.
Slash has been sober since 2006 and now puts his energy into meaningful work. Between making TV and raising his sons London and Cash, he’s created a steady life far from his wild past.
