Olivia Newton-John: How to Livestream Her State Memorial Service
Olivia Newton-John will be honored in grand fashion with a State Memorial in her native Australia.
The State Memorial Service will take place on Sunday, February 26 at the Hamer Hall Arts Centre in Melbourne. The city of Melbourne is the capital of Victoria, the second-most-populated state in Australia. It’s also the city where the singer emigrated to with her family after being born in Cambridge, England.
The State Memorial Service begins at 4 PM AEST or 1 AM EST in the United States. A special photo tribute slideshow set to Newton-John’s music will begin at 3:25 PM AEST/12:25 AM EST. The entire service will stream live on Victoria’s official government website and will remain on the website for rewatching until Sunday, March 5.
Newton-John died on August 8, 2022 at age 73 following a decades-long battle with breast cancer. She dedicated much of her life to funding cancer research following her initial diagnosis in 1992. Her years of cancer charity work led to her being named Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in 2020.
The announcement of her memorial livestream states, “In lieu of flowers and at the request of Dame Olivia’s family, memorial tributes may be made in the form of contributions to the Wellness Programs at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre.”

Newton-John is no stranger to hits. She had 40 songs chart on the Billboard Hot 100 in her career. Of those songs, 27 of them were top 40 hits, and five of them went to number 1. Those number one hits were 1974’s “I Honestly Love You,” 1975’s “Have You Never Been Mellow,” 1978’s “You’re the One That I Want” (with John Travolta), 1980’s “Magic” and 1981’s “Physical.”
