Elton John could potentially have two different songs from two different films up for Best Original Song at the 92nd Academy Awards.

The Academy Awards website released shortlists for nine different categories, and for Best Original Song, both "Never Too Late" from The Lion King and "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again" from Rocketman made the shortlist. John co-wrote "Never Too Late" with Tim Rice, while he co-wrote "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again" with Bernie Taupin.

The Best Original Song shortlist also featured the following:

“Speechless” from “Aladdin”
“Letter To My Godfather” from “The Black Godfather”
“I’m Standing With You” from “Breakthrough”
“Da Bronx” from “The Bronx USA”
“Into The Unknown” from “Frozen II”
“Stand Up” from “Harriet”

“Spirit” from “The Lion King”

The nominations for the 92nd Academy Awards will be announced on January 13, while the ceremony will take place on February 9.
