Huey Lewis & The News announced some surprising new news in the form of a new album, the band’s first since 2001’s Plan B.

In a statement to Rolling Stone, Lewis said, “We’re very excited about our new album, and honestly feel that it’s among our best work – we cannot wait to get it out to fans!”

This new album news is certainly unexpected, especially in light of the group having to cancel their tour last year after Lewis’ sudden hearing loss and issues with Meniere's disease.  In an interview with Today shortly after the tour’s cancelation, Lewis said, “I haven’t come to grips with the fact that I may never sing again. I’m still hoping I’m gonna get better. They say a positive attitude is important."

Clearly, if an album is on the way, Lewis must be feeling better. While the potential of new tour dates is still up in the air, it’s still wonderful to see this positive development.
