Neil Young News Round-Up: New Album, Julien’s Auctions Event
Neil Young continues his prolific record releasing pace with The Visitor, a new album he’ll be releasing on December 1.
Young recorded the set with Promise of the Real, which is led by Willie Nelson‘s son Lukas Nelson and has been Young’s backing band since 2016, both on tour and for the album’s The Monsanto Years and Earth. Young has released the first single from the album, “Already Great,” and more details are expected soon.
…Meanwhile, Young has also announced he’s auctioning off a slew of his possessions, including, according to a statement, his “personal collection of model trains, classic cars, guitars, recording gear, clothing, memorabilia and more.”
The auction will take place December 9 at Julien’s Auctions Gallery in Los Angeles, with the items on public viewing starting December 4. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Bridge School, which Young and his ex-wife Pegi founded to work with severely disabled youths.
In a statement, Young says that, “Collecting all these items have been my great joy. They have provided a source of inspiration, fun and creativity throughout my life. Now it is time to share them with others in the world whom I hope will enjoy and love them as much as I have.”
Among the highlights of the auction a custom-made 1953 Buick Roadmaster, one of just 1,690 ever produced ($200,000-$300,000), a 1965 Gibson ES-345 left-handed guitar ($3,500-$5,000) and an assortment of model trains produced by Lionel, a company Young once co-owned.
