The city’s own Miss Philadelphia, Alysa Bainbridge, returns to BEN Around Philly to talk about the unprecedented plan for the Miss Philadelphia competition this year, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The competition this past March for the title of Miss Philadelphia and Miss Outstanding Teen 2020 was postponed, and ultimately canceled this year because of the pandemic.
The organization announced this week that they feel it is in the best interest of their candidates, volunteers and guests, to postpone the Miss Philadelphia and Miss Philadelphia’s Outstanding Teen 2020 competition until 2021. The 2019 titleholders, Alysa Bainbridge and Jaylen Baron, have graciously agreed to represent the organization for another year. Headed into her senior year at Saint Joseph’s University, and now SECOND year as Miss Philadelphia, Alysa talks to Kristen about her plans for the upcoming year, to take advantage of this ‘bonus’ year as Miss Philadelphia and every opportunity that comes with it, including a chance to take her advocacy for her platform even further, helping to battle the opioid crisis in Philadelphia.
