Bill Burr Defends His Former ‘Mandalorian’ Co-Star Gina Carano

In a recent video, comedian Bill Burr discussed the subject of his former Mandalorian ex-co-star, Gina Carano. Carano was  fired by Disney over her social media statements comparing being conservative in Hollywood to being Jewish in Nazi Germany.

Burr said, "Now it’s becoming, like, ‘Hey you made an ignorant comparison. There goes your dream.’ I look at that and say ‘Who the f--- stands up to that?’"

He said of his former castmate, “She was an absolute sweetheart. Super nice f------ person. And you know, whatever, somehow someone will take this video and f----- make me say something else and try to get rid of my bald action figure!” As for his action figure, he was joking as there isn't one out there yet for his character, Mayfield, Deadline reports.

Burr who plays Migs Mayfield, a rogue bounty hunter on The Mandalorian, noted that he had to be a bit careful addressing the topic. “I’m on that f----- show. Now, I gotta watch what the f--- I say,” Burr added.

The Mandalorian debuted on Disney+ in 2019 and Carano's Cara Dune was a popular character, with the actor praised for bringing "a calm strength" to the role, the Hollywood Reporter said, "but her tweets have also made her a controversial figure among Star Wars fandom."

In the wake of Carano's firing, a Lucasfilm spokesperson said, "Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."

Carano was rumored to potentially star in the upcoming Mandalorian spinoff Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic before her firing. She's also been dropped as a client by UTA, an agency spokesperson confirmed.

It’s not certain whether Burr is returning for Season 3 of Disney+’s The Mandalorian.
