As a resident of New Jersey this is a list I am happy (no pun intended) to see the Garden State on! Our friends at WalletHub released a report on 2022’s Happiest States in America.
To determine where Americans have the highest satisfaction with life, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 30 key indicators of happiness. The data set ranges from the depression rate and the share of adults feeling productive to income growth and the unemployment rate.
Hawaii had the lowest share of adult depression with 12.9% while New Jersey has the fewest suicides (per 100,000 residents) at 7. Utah had the highest volunteer rate at 51.2% and also the lowest separation and divorce rate at 15.63%.
Here’s where New Jersey ranked among the 50 states in a number of a few key metrics, with 1 being the happiest and 25 being average:
- 5th – Lowest % of Depressed Adults
- 1st – Lowest Suicide Rate
- 3rd – Lowest Divorce Rate
- 2nd – Emotional & Physical Well Being
Overall, New Jersey came in as the 5th happiest state in America. See the rest of the top five below:
