Washington Post reporter Sadie Dingfelder thought she knew herself. Boy was she wrong. At the age of 39, she discovered that she’s faceblind — and always has been. This suddenly solved a lot of long-running life mysteries, including whatever happened to her good friend Susan who disappeared in middle school. (Turns out, she got bangs.) As Sadie learns to see herself more clearly, she discovers that there are more flavors of human consciousness than anyone expected — and she works directly with the scientists who are objectively studying subjectivity.
Dingfelder will be discussing her book, “Do I Know You? A Faceblind Reporter’s Journey into the Science of Sight, Memory, and Imagination,” with WHYY’s Maiken Scott. Books will be signed, minds will be blown. (free) |
