Join the world’s largest grassroots fundraising movement to fight cancer by participating in a Relay For Life event! The American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising activity is typically an overnight event that gives communities across the globe an opportunity to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. Teams are made up of eight to 15 people, and at least one member of each team is walking or running the track at all times. Relay For Life began in 1985 with one man, Dr. Gordy Klatt, who ran around a track for 24 hours and raised $27,000 his first year. Today, four million Relayers around the world have helped to raise more than $4 billion to support the Society’s mission of creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
