AIDS Walk Philly 2011

October 16, 2011 12:00 AM - 12:00 AM

Philadelphia, PA
Support the 25th annual AIDS Walk Philly. This event is the primary fundraiser for AIDS Fund, which supports HIV/AIDS service organizations in the Philadelphia region. These organizations supply everything from food, housing and counseling to legal aid, education and prevention. Every 9½ minutes, someone is diagnosed with HIV in the U.S. In the Philadelphia region the rate of new infections is five times the national average. Each participant is asked to raise funds by soliciting sponsors – your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers. You can register as an individual or you can participate as part of a team. Either way, you’ll be raising money from your sponsors that will go to fight HIV/AIDS in the Delaware Valley. AIDS Walk Philly begins and ends at Eakins Oval, in front of the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The 12 kilometer (8.4 mile) route goes up Kelly Drive and back down Martin Luther King Drive. You can register online at aidswalkphilly.org or by phone (215-731-WALK).
