Deborah P. Brown, the Chief Mission Officer for the American Lung Association discussed the newly released State of the Air Report, an annual report issued by the ALA each year, tracking air quality for the region and the country. The study looks ozone and small particle polution – some natural, pollen and soot from wildfires, and man-made, exhaust and other emissions. She discussed the ramifications on lung health and its impact on urban dwellers and low income families, as well as the impact of climate change on creating polution nad poor air quality. We discussed the American Lung Association’s advocacy for COVID 19 vaccination, their smoking cessation work and the negative impact of COVID on these programs, and local reasearch grants awarded by the ALA.
