Books Are Fun, First Person Arts COVID Stories, and Luv N Bunns Rabbit Rescue Download

19:55 Download April 6th

In this week’s episode Kristen checks in with Charlie Keiper from Books Are Fun. His company would typically be found at schools and book fairs all over the area, but with schools closed (and everything else too), they’ve decided to bring Books Are Fun to where we are: Home. With families in quarantine and kids stuck at home, this local business offers fun items to help kids and adults alike learn, have fun, and keep occupied. They have a number of items available for Easter, STEM activities, cookbooks, and lots more. They’ll even deliver personally, right to your house in the Philadelphia area. Please go to www.EastCoastBookFairs.com to order. Contact Charlie with questions at CharlieKeiper@aol.com.

Then, Kristen speaks with Jamie Brunson, the Executive Director at First Person Arts. First Person Arts is practicing social distancing like everyone else, but that won’t keep them from being an embracing environment in which people can share their true, personal stories. In direct response to COVID-19, the local, non-profit storytelling organization, is launching a digital memoir from the pandemic called, “Covid Stories.”  Covid Stories will help archive the experiences of those in our region during the quarantine, while connecting with others who are coping with isolation. Whatever people are feeling or thinking during this time, First person Arts wants everyone to know that they are not alone, and somehow we’ll get through this together.

Submit your own video and audio submissions! The project asks people to sit in front of a camera (or microphone) and share their experience for up to 5 minutes. Beyond “Covid Stories,” First Person Arts will also be implementing a series of digital workshops designed by staff  to help people shape their experiences into stories, and teach them how to connect with others through story-sharing. Find more information at www.FirstPersonArts.org.

Just ahead of the Easter holiday, listen as Kristen speaks with Liz Luczyszyn, President of Luv-N-Bunns, a rabbit rescue and placement organization for abandoned bunnies in the Philadelphia area. They work to rescue domestic rabbits from abandoned stray situations, kill shelters, private relinquishments and hoarding cases. Once rescued, the organization provides each ‘bunn’ with a nurturing foster home, proper care, shelter and love, plus all necessary veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery. Since its inception in 2007, Luv-N-Bunns is responsible for saving the lives of almost 2,000 abandoned rabbits. Help them by purchasing from their Amazon Wish List. Learn more about Luv-N-Bunns and their mission at www.luvnbunns.org.
