First, Kristen speaks with Russ “Wolf” Harper of Justice Rescue about the organization’s incredible work rescuing animals directly from the hands of abusers. Justice Rescue has a brand new reality show called Justice Unchained. This compelling new program shows the horrors of animal abuse and neglect, and gives viewers the chance to follow the daily life of Justice Rescue with scenes from actual rescues and an authentic look at the everyday dangers the officers face in order to help those who cannot help themselves. Marilyn talks to Rob Wasserman, Co-Founder of Burger Brawl (Comcast Business Presents). Rob shares all the details on the 6th Annual Burger Brawl Sunday June 26th at Xfinity Live. Along with 30 of the best burger restaurants and/or food trucks in town competing to be the “best”, new this year is a Taco Takedown and a Cutthroat Cocktail Competition – all for a great cause – The Burger Brawl funds literacy programming through technology for Philadelphia’s under served children in our public elementary schools. Marilyn Russell is on board as judge.
Then, Kristen talks to Brian Bortnick, lead singer of the band Octane and Al Geary, owner of Shore Bets Entertainment – who organized a large event for a friend and former co-worker, Julie Powers. Join them for Julie’s Powers at 3pm on Sunday, June 26th at Xfinity Live (same day and location as Burger Brawl). With special appearances and performances from a number of local Philly bands including The Freakin’ Cads, Octane, Monkey Bus, JD Malone and the Experts, Laura Lea, the Sherwood Brothers and more – plus food, a Chinese Auction, 50/50 and live auction.
