BEN Around Philly

Will Starr is a fourth grade teacher at Plymouth Meeting Friends School. About 18 years ago, he decided to write a math book with a circus theme. This book, combined with his lifelong interest in circus arts and passion for unicycle riding, led to a small circus performance for the parents, starring the kids in his class. The PMFS Fourth Grade Circus is now in its seventeenth year, and has grown into a multiple day event with close to 1,000 people in attendance.  Catch the Plymouth Meeting Friends School Fourth Grade Circus, on Friday, March 13th and Saturday March 14th. The theme is 20/20: I See You. Find more information at PMFS1780.org or call 610-828-2288. Purchase Will Starr’s Circus Math book (for ages 9-11 years) on Amazon.

Next, Kristen is joined by Sarah Koon, Executive Director of the Light Up The Queen Foundation (LUQ). Light up the Queen Foundation is the non-profit branch of The Queen theater in Wilmington, DE. The organization helped to restore, and is dedicated to the success of the Queen Theater in Wilmington, DE, and to ensuring that the Queen remains a catalyst for building community through high-quality programs in arts and music education. The 9th annual ‘Shine A Light’ fundraiser to benefit Light Up the Queen is happening on Leap Day this year, Saturday, February 29th. The theme of the night is the year 1980, and attendees are encouraged to dress the part. Find tickets and more information HERE.

Then, the latest show from the Kimmel Center’s Broadway Philadelphia series opened on Wednesday, and it’s an absolute classic. Catch Hello Dolly at the Academy of Music through March 1st. Kristen is joined in the BEN-FM studio by Colin LeMoine (who plays Ambrose) and Brandon Whitmore, who talk about their National Tour debuts with the show, the costumes, leads, Wall-E, flying chickens and more. Find more information and purchase tickets HERE. Don’t miss it, because unfortunately, Dolly will go away again… on March 1st.
