On this week’s episode, the 9th Annual 2nd Street Festival in Northern Liberties and the 10th Annual BUG FEST at the Academy of Natural Sciences.
Kristine Kennedy returns to give us all of the details for this year’s 9th Annual 2nd Street Festival in Northern Liberties – along North 2nd Street from Germantown to Spring Garden – Sunday, August 6th from noon to 10pm. Known as Philly’s Biggest Block Party, the all day celebration will include over 150 vendors, restaurants, beer gardens, kids activities, crafts, bands, performers and more. There will be food trucks, 9 beer gardens and over 20 bands on 3 stages. Spinto Band will headline the music at the festival at 9pm. Find all of the details HERE.
Then, Karen Verderame – Invertebrate Specialist, bug lover and expert (and Kristen’s favorite guest) returns to the show to talk about this year’s BUG Fest celebration going on August 12th and 13th at the Academy of Natural Sciences. With hundreds of live invertebrates on display throughout the museum, plus a cockroach race, a bug stage show, a glimpse (and taste if you’re brave enough) into the art of cooking and eating bugs, bedbug-sniffing dog demonstrations and more!
