Chicken Salad Chick, a Southern fast-casual chain, is expanding into the Philadelphia market with six new locations planned across Chester and Montgomery counties.
According to a VISTA.TODAY report, the group is actively searching for spots, with one property identified in Montgomery County. Others include Paoli, West Chester, and Exton in Chester County.
A franchise development group led by Amanda Furiato and her fiancé Ryan Metz, along with Drew Christy, Furiato's brother, is behind the expansion plans. After doing some research, they found that chicken salad was one of the few food concepts not oversaturated in the Philadelphia market. The nearest existing Chicken Salad Chick is in Maryland, about a two-hour drive from Philly.
Furiato said that the ideal locations for the restaurants consist of approximately 2,500 square feet in shopping centers with strong visibility from the road, ideally positioned near anchor tenants such as Marshalls, HomeGoods, fitness centers, and grocery stores.
According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, Chicken Salad Chick is the only fast-casual chain in the United States dedicated to chicken salad. It operates more than 330 restaurants across 22 states.
