If combining art and fungi sounds like your idea of fun, the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival has a t-shirt opportunity for you.
Festival organizers are inviting artists to design this year's festival T-shirt. The winning design will appear on official merchandise, and the winning artist will receive a $500 prize.
According to a Chadds Ford Live report, submissions are now open and must be emailed by May 30. Creators are encouraged to reflect mushrooms, community, and Kennett Square's character in their designs.
Since its inception as a one-day event, the festival has grown into a nationally recognized celebration that highlights the mushroom industry and the community's support for it. Today, the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival is a two-day event set for Sept. 12–13 in Kennett Square, drawing thousands of visitors for food, entertainment, craft vendors, mushroom education, and local culture.
Proceeds from the festival's grants program support local nonprofit organizations in Kennett Square, known as the “Mushroom Capital of the World.” To date, these contributions total more than $1.1 million in grants, along with research support focused on the health benefits of mushrooms.
