The Chester County Commissioners invite the public to participate in the 2026 Town Tours and Village Walks program. This program kicks off at the Chester County Historic Courthouse on Thursday, April 30, and concludes on Oct. 15.
As part of the program, guests can enjoy approximately 50-minute tours and a mix of site visits and lectures on a rotating schedule.
For 2026, the program is themed "13 Tours for 13 Colonies," featuring 13 walking tours, plus three Armchair Lectures, all free and open to the public.
A Chester County news release details the following schedule:
- April 30: Kickoff and Walking Tour at the Chester County Historic Courthouse
- May 7: Lecture on the Pennsylvania Ironmasters and the Revolution
- May 14: Walking tour offered by the Spring-Ford Area Historical Society
- May 21: Walking tour on "Woven in History: A Textile Collection" at Hibernia Mansion
- June 4: Walking tour on women and minorities in Malvern
- June 11: Walking tour at Barnard Station
- June 18: Walking tour offered by the Caln Township Historical Commission, "300th Anniversary of the Old Quaker Meetinghouse"
- July 16: Walking tour focused on the Radley Run Mansion House, "A Journey Through Time"
- July 23: Lecture on "When the Declaration of Independence Was News"
- Aug. 6: Walking tour focused on Primitive Hall, ancestral home of the Pennock family
- Aug. 20: Walking tour on historic Yellow Springs
- Sept. 17: Walking tour offered by the Oxford Area Historical Association
- Sept. 24: Walking tour of the mill at Anselma
- Oct.1: Walking Tour on the topic "A Hotbed of Social Reform in Kennett Square"
- Oct. 8: Walking Tour on adaptive reuse in Caln Township, "Where the Past Meets the Future in the Heart of Chester County"
- Oct. 15: Lecture on historic Yellow Springs
Evening tours begin at 5:30 p.m. with the last tour departing at 7 p.m. Lectures start at 5:30 p.m. with Q&A afterward. No preregistration is required.
