It's got more than a few of my favorite things, especially the music. Our family loves this show. We listened to the music just last night. During dinner, when my kids should have been eating at the table, we were all dancing around to “Do Re Mi”. It's my 4-year-old Trudy’s (latest) favorite song. It's so good, and just one of the many catchy songs in this musical.

A Timeless Show for Everyone
The Sound of Music is one of those shows that's universally loved by all, young and old alike. There are SO many great songs. From "Climb Every Mountain" to "Edelweiss" to "The Lonely Goatherd." It's got a strong female lead character, and the enduring message of standing up for what’s right can be applied to any time period. The show is timeless.
I would gladly buy a ticket to go see this show in the tiniest high school auditorium. Here in Philly, though, we're super lucky (spoiled) to have access to the many incredible venues of Ensemble Arts Philly for their Broadway Philadelphia series. The Academy of Music in particular. Show after show, Ensemble Arts Philly brings incredible talent to their many venues. This show, The Sound of Music in Philly at the Academy of Music, is something you just can't miss. Such an enduring show, and in a theater that’s legendary in its own right.

Kevin Earley as Captain von Trapp
I often have the opportunity to speak with some of the talent visiting Philadelphia through Ensemble Arts Philly. I recently spoke with Kevin Earley. Kevin plays the role of 'Captain von Trapp' in the National touring cast of The Sound of Music. Listen below to our conversation as Earley talks a bit about this unique The Sound of Music cast and the audience reaction to the show so far. He also shares what it’s like to step into such an iconic role in such a classic show, and his personal history with The Sound of Music, performing the role of Kurt as a child in Chicago.
