The North Wales Water Authority has launched its fifth annual Water and Wastewater Internship Program (WWIP). This 10-week paid summer internship offers hands-on experience in drinking water and wastewater services.
The WWIP aims to cultivate careers in water and wastewater management, environmental engineering, and public utility operations amid a growing national demand for skilled water professionals.
According to North Penn Now, the program invites high school seniors who are 18 or older, college students, recent graduates, and veterans interested in engineering, environmental science, or utility operations to participate. Sessions run from June through August and feature fieldwork, mentorship, and professional networking.
Participants will rotate among six authorities biweekly — Chalfont New Britain Township Sewer Authority, Montgomery Township Municipal Authority, North Penn Water Authority, North Wales Water Authority, Northampton Bucks County Municipal Authority, and Warminster Township Municipal Authority. In doing so, they'll gain exposure to water treatment processes, field operations, and laboratory work.
Through the internship, participants will gain real-world experience in water quality testing, facility maintenance, system operations, and regulatory compliance, under the guidance of mentors from all six participating authorities.
Applications are open now with a March 27 deadline; however, applications will continue to be considered until all positions are filled. To apply, visit water-wastewater-internship-program.com or call the North Wales Water Authority at 215-699-4836 for details.
